MAG's Community and Economic Development Department administers Social Services Block Grant Funds for Summit, Utah, and Wasatch counties.
These monies are federal funds granted through Title XX of the Social Security Act to the State of Utah. These funds are discretionary and can be utilized at the local level to provide social service programs that meet the following goals:

MAG Executive Council appoints a committee to oversee the allocation process and make recommendations to the full Executive Council.
This timetable is followed to allocate SSBG funding that becomes available each July 1st:
December | Application opened and public notice published |
February 21, 2025 | Application due |
March | Committee reviews applications |
April | Funding recommendations made |
May - June | Grantees notified and new contracts developed |
July 1 | Services begin |
